Previously sparse clashes between the Antarktische privateer league and the Armada Ikonicus have escalated to armed conflict after Ikonia intensified their anti-piracy patrols in an effort to disrupt the damage done to baskayan commerce in the past decades.

Almost immediately after the new policy was implemented a Antarktische raiding party intercepted the cargo ship Duchess of Kalnu-Rosa, alerting the nearby corvette IKN Kyer Bronson which gave chase.

Temporarily losing contact with the pirates due to fog, A brief clearing caused both sides to run into eachother at close range in the sea between Sweetsnow Glacier and Zuai.

At least five torpedo boats assailed Kyer Bronson, however their ordinance was of either Sahren Civil War or Imperial Reclaimation vintage, thus their torpedoes and missiles were either shot down, missed, or failed to detonate. A storm also rolled in which gave a clear advantage to the modern fire control system of the Mazdok class.

The result was a decisive victory in which all five torpedo boats were destroyed and two (quite hypothermic) pirates captured alive, for the cost of minor damage on the Kyer Bronson and only one Ikonic sailor injured.

Strategarch Leandros Small was pleased with the efficient and noble conduct of the Ikonic sailors who drove a steel wedge into the heart of Baskayan piracy. Whilst he will never know it, the Arcarosian admiral responsible for real-time tactical imput from within the Octum Tholos has been lauded with the Antikythera Cross for exceptional civilian service in defense of the nation.

The two surviving pirates were swiftly extricated from their sodden situation and recovered to the IKN Kyer Bronson for full-contact coercive debriefing.

Before the subjects expired, extracted intelligence indicated the the Antarktische privateer league has grown to numbers far beyond the estimates of the strategikon.

The Armada Ikonicus shall redouble patrol numbers in the region, and skirmishes are expected to become both larger and more frequent.

Ilishira (and the PVC) would be more than willing to assist Ikonia in its anti-piracy efforts should the need arise. Piracy, no matter the target, represents a great evil that harms all Baskay nations.
