Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned (Gardo 29th, 2208)
On the 29th of Gardo the Sahren parliament voted into law the Act for the Introduction of Trade Barriers with Suid-Kafrica or with a more practical name, the Calyvori agreement, named after one of the more outspoken parliaminas who were in favour of it.
The law sets a strict limit on the amount of grain, produce, steel, fuels, and raw iron allowed to be sold to or purchased from Suid-Kafrica. It prohibits the sale of any type of vehicles, livestock, and nuclear fuels altogether. Universities have also been asked to reduce the amount of Suid-Kafrican citizens they allow to study in Sahrland down to ten percent, though the effect is basically nonexistant as very few of such exchange students existed in the first place. The cumulative result of all of these is the near-complete cessation of trade between the two nations.
The push for this bill came primarily by the insistance of Banphrionsa Kara and those who still view her as the rightful owner of the Sahren throne. The resulting debates in parliament were heated, but similar Iroan trading restriction laws and the past apartheid politics of previous Strelkan states in Mlorba made the push popular, until all ther opposition were forced to go along with the bill for the sake of avoiding the complete government deadlock they only recently got out of.
In an unsurprising continuation of this administration's charactaristic un-transparency effectively none of the most powerful political figures have given their opinions. Only Foreign minister MacAkoren gave a quote; "There's just nothing we could do about it" while shrugging, before she began shoving her way through a pandamonium of journalists.
