TYYRHEN; 2211 - Peacekeepers from the UIF Army II Corps have entered Irsmuncast across the Newsori border, following the signing of a ceasefire between Irsmun and PVC forces at the request of both parties, signifying a conclusion to the fighting on the Irsmuncastine front of the Second Baskay War.

The largest combined-arms engagements of the 22nd century have so far occurred along the border of Irsmuncast and the Pan-Veiidic Commonwealth, where shortly after New Year’s 2210, Basil-Irsmun Axis armies launched a devastating offensive against coalition forces. The subsequent battles, which have marked the year of 2210, have seen thousands of armed units engage each other across air, land, and sea, with combat spreading across the Southern Hemisphere and beyond the Tau Sea. Though met with immediate and ferocious fire however, Pan-Veiidic forces, supported by Elohim, the IU, and PLAID, successfully held the frontline against the Basil-Irsmun juggernaut.

Air superiority had been gained by the Basil Air Force, at the cost of unsustainably high casualties amongst the Basil Army’s Guards Armored Divisions; with Axis anti-air disabled by Desovan drone swarms, Atrean air assault brigades succeeded in piercing the frontline, and delivered devastating losses to the Basilic armor columns. Supported by flanking assaults against the Irsmuncastine Tau coastline, albeit with the loss of dozens of warships at the hands of “Sea Monster” ekranoplan squadrons, Pan-Veiidic forces quickly regained the initiative, launching a counter-offensive into Irsmun territory. Though the city of Rotok successfully held out, damage to the Basil-Irsmun Axis Army Groups were catastrophic; Basilic air superiority by itself was incapable of stopping the Atrean Army’s backhand blow, and by the end of the year, the capitulation of Irsmuncast to PVC forces seemed a foregone conclusion.

With their Category A divisions in retreat, and Basilic reinforcements prohibited from crossing the Newsori border, General Secretary Andropov of Irsmuncast called his Pan-Veiidic counterpart, Secretary-General Tasova, to declare a ceasefire. Fighting ended shortly thereafter, and the remnants of the Irsmuncastine government had entered negotiations with the PVC to sue for peace and withdraw from the war. The UIF government, in correspondence with both sides of the conflict, was requested to provide a peacekeeping mission as a compromise between Andropov and Tasova for the postwar reconstruction of the region. This request was agreed to by the UIF’s Deputy of State, and a peacekeeping operation for the UIF Army II Corps was ratified by the States-General for the following year.

Though the war continues along the Basil-Norvek border, and with coalition forces poised to retake East Hook Island in an amphibious assault, the Second Baskay War is reaching its culmination, and the withdrawal of Irsmuncast has concluded the Constadian front as a decisive victory for the Pan-Veiidic Commonwealth. First Consul Kasparov, having already approved lines of credit and lend-lease to the defending countries, intends to put forward a formal “Kasparov Plan” to the States-General to help facilitate the reconstruction of the Veiid continent. The Second Baskay War has so far resulted in tens of thousands of casualties, millions’ worth of material destroyed, and severely degraded the economies and standards of living of all belligerent nations.
