The Cyneagan affair
Scandal strikes the Sahren Navy! An investigation into the directorate of naval construction has revealed orders for new vessels have unfairely favoured the Cyneagan maritime engineering corporation, done in exchange for the group paying unclear favours to officers in on the scheme.
The scheme was exposed as an employee from the corporation anonymously tipped off the press, which seemed to explain how Cyneagan had managed to avoid complete dissolution despite years of financial mismanagement. The government quickly attempted to suppress the story citing obscure espionage laws which haven't been enforced in decades, resulting in the story only gaining even more attention. Failing this they implicated commander Kolin MacMyreas as the primary suspect, forcing him and his superior into early retirement.
Though the public demanded prosecution High Admiral Samatov intervened, arguing Cyneagan's value as a military industrial organisation was certainly worth saving, and thus Macmyreas had actually (knowingly or not) performed an act of good for society despite abusing his position. A compromise solution was then reached as the government agreed to drop the prosecution of officers implicated and purchased Cyneagan Maritime Engineering, soon reformed into Cyneagan Maritime Design Bereau.
