REPORT #01- RADAR POST NORTH

Post by waflfr »

Code: Select all

 zzt. zzzzt.

The radar scope slowly brightens, the outdated green phosphor glow annoying the operator. Money was short, leaving the outdated radar arrays - and its paraphernalia - operating. However, command doesn't bat an eye: the airspace was always quiet anyway. Nobody considers the northern border a threat.

- - - - 14:00 LOCAL TIME - - - -

Three blips appear on the antiquated display, a tinny beep blares from a speaker. The radar operator rushes back to his post, expecting the usual - radar noise misinterpreted as a threat. But something is different. Each target moves abnormally, as if they wish to keep a formation but lack the capability to do so. The aircraft are flying south, toward Norvik and the sea. Yet, he is reluctant to sound an alarm; there are rumors of operators being assigned to janitorial duty if they are wrong.

- - - - 14:45 LOCAL TIME - - - -

More blips appear, and the others have not gone away. The operator informs his superior, who calls command in Norvik. However, the airforce is non-existent, as R&D delays have prevented the ████████ project from entering production. Three trainer aircraft are launched to "intercept" a formation of these aircraft, however the only capability was to scout the threat.

- - - - 15:10 LOCAL TIME - - - -

The first Norvek aircraft arrive in the airspace, gaining eyes on a fighter just over the village of Uzan Kul. A pilot spots a Pikkastani roundel on the seemingly ancient fighter, which relies on a propeller mechanism to fly. The aircraft attempts to heil the Pikkastani pilot, but there is no response. With no ability to intercept, the threat is escorted from a distance, where it eventually flies over Westreach and out of Norvek airspace.

The government in Norvik issues an diplomatic protest to the Pikkastani envoy, but there is no response.

The representative returns the document to his desk, mulling a bill that would increase military spending and create a national defense corporation. This document had been drafted three months ago, but military development had been sidelined to fund civilian infrastructure. Three extra clauses were added after the events detailed in the report, one to increase funding for the ████████ project; another to seek new, potentially foreign defense contracts; and a final to consider any Pikkastani aircraft over Norvek hostile. He grabs his pen, and scrabbles his short signature onto the page.
