The Office of the Emperor has confirmed that the Prime Minister of the Imperial Union has formally tendered his resignation at the request of His Imperial Majesty.
The decision follows mounting political pressure surrounding the handling of the Grestinian crisis, continued economic contraction in Vocavium, and a worsening demographic decline across several core provinces of the Union.
In a brief statement, the Emperor thanked the outgoing Prime Minister for his service during a period of “extraordinary strain” but indicated that “renewed public confidence and decisive national direction” are now required.
The Prime Minister, a senior figure within the centre-left United Labour Party, had governed in coalition with the Progressive Action Bloc following the last parliamentary election. The coalition had faced growing internal divisions over border policy, economic management, and social reform priorities.
Effective immediately, the Emperor has mandated new parliamentary elections to be held within the constitutional timeframe. An interim caretaker government will remain in place until the electorate selects a new Imperial Parliament.
Political observers note that the upcoming election is likely to serve as a referendum on the Union’s economic direction, demographic policy, and approach to the Grestinian–Svarskian crisis.
Further details regarding election scheduling and transitional authority are expected in the coming days.
