In Sahrland and Aontas as a whole a dreadful spell followed wherever one tread. A spell of Bastia, the SRGIA, government-by-assassination, a beast always lurking, never quite in sight but always felt. Many governments came about during and after the last days of Sahrland-Bastia, but like a line of usurpers, one swallowed the other, swallowing the next, never strangling the nation quite enough to put any long lasting reforms into place. The real power in Sahrland came through cloak and dagger– from the military factions. Despite all the speeches and fearmongering, it has been largely up in the air whether the Ascensionists would too be swallowed, becoming nothing but a footnote in a rapidly devolving society.

That is until the night the Quiet Purge began. An unmomentous and bloodless draining of the SRGIA. The once terrifying beast had been paralyzed by careful manipulation of popular opinion, completely incapable of saving itself or lashing out in its dying throes. It could only whimper as it was torn asunder.

The process was slow. leisurely even. Only a few sackings every month, mostly of officers everybody already knew were involved in the coup. Then came the unexplained rise in disappearances. Reality itself seemed to swallow them whole, leaving secret police facilities abandoned and apartments vacated without a trace. None of the common citizenry had even a single worry about it, repeating the phrase “Ya ne Kharatsin!” (I do not give a damn.).

Other mysteries began in the farther reaches of the Lavro’s Realm. New faces seemed to arrive in Avarua-Polengairdt, very obviously migrants as they were not familiar with the native Avaruan dialect. New privateers in the southern ice shelf appeared who had clearly never sailed nor touched ice in their whole lives, new businessmen in Chadastok who didn’t speak a word of Hartford.

But when looked into, all the data seemed to show these people had always existed in the colonies. A universe had been fabricated wherein they were never part of the Sahren whole, only the periphery, and through ignorance or hatred, enough people adhered to this universe until it became the only real one; there were never any SRGIA officers. You always lived next to a strange Egercian.

In Vemáey of 2209 the Arduchasparti announced the dissolution of the SRGIA. It was a formality, really. The dissolution process had been going on ever since Tengin won the election. By the time Avarua-Polengairdt became Sahren the SRGIA was already defanged at least in the sense of privileges and laws.

It is now of great uncertainty if everything the party and its figurehead promised would be true, if the Republican institutions or even the concept of the Sahren state will survive now that it is no longer needed as a battleground. The only institution which could stand a chance against the Arduchasparti is gone; Not even the Korych or navy can undermine Ascensionist rule now.
