Tanaka leads unexpected Closure policy for the second time since Namresh
After an extraordinary council, the Commonwealth of Feguanesia, with consideration to the climate of instability currently plaguing international conflicts, has decided to immediately enter a period of reinforced isolation. Effective immediately, all land, air, and maritime borders of the Commonwealth will be closed to all transit, civilian or military, with the exception of the land border shared with Canstana.
The Council has left the application of these measures to the discretion of each member nation, at the request of Rostrum to keep the Kolus road and the Trans-Feguan Rail Belt open through Laveska. This provision suscited vehement criticism from the Tahuraist and Socialist groups, the former's anti-Laveskan policies being no secret to anyone despite their plummetting influence in the absence of the Emperor, Vaitao Tahura. Lin Tanaka's majority ruled in favor of Rostrum after a heated session, aligning their policy in the former Reciprocian territory with the exception granted at the same time to the IU.
The leader of the liberal Tanaka clan also invoked constitutional powers normally reserved to the Emperor to enact the Closure policy, a rare constitutional policy effectively closing Fegeland from international relations and financial markets. The Seifagasque Exchange (SEX) and the Feguan General Stock Exchange (FGSE) will therefore remain closed. Most notably, Lin Tanaka severed diplomatic relationships with Larrea and Sarconia, citing a lack of trust in their authoritarian regimes.
We were already convinced from centuries of past history that nothing of value ever comes from the West ; evidently this must be extended to the South. The powers of Doren, from the Reciprocity to Pippakistan, from Basil to Sarconia and Larrea, have proven to be unstable warmongering vessels for tyrants countless times. We do not believe that their medieval minds can grasp the value of international cooperation, as we are establishing with esteemed partners from Zokesia to Kafrika, the IU, and many others. The new world order will be one built on the shoulders of those with a greater vision. It is sadly on our half of the world that the medieval primitives have decided to waste their blood.
Tanaka has however refused to take a stance on the ongoing conflicts, and has affirmed that he would be willing to serve as a neutral third party, calling both sides to a truce.
Provision granted to Canstana amidst work on the Spice & Flowers Belt Initiative
In caution to preserve recent diplomatic efforts between Canstana and the Commonwealth of Feguanesia to strengthen ties in prevision of the ambitious Trans-Dorvic Corridor project, Fegeland has opted to keep ongoing exchanges, borders and relations with Canstana untouched. The Empire has stated a goal to increase logistical collaboration with the IU, paving the way for the greater project of a fast logistical corridor from the Central Sea to the Baskay, the Trans-Dorvic Corridor project. Rostrum, the most recent member of the Commonwealth, was the major sponsor of this initiative, and the origin of the project's unofficial nickname : the Spice & Flowers Belt Initiative. Aiming to shift a large portion of the freight and passenger traffic between the two seas from ship to rail, the project would alleviate dependency on the Strait of Nautilus for all powers in the region.
