The President of the Dorislav People's Republic has signed the "To the Stars!" Act after passing Parliament, following a majority yes vote from all members. Effective May 1, 2210, this law establishes the Ministry of Space Exploration of the Dorislav People's Republic. This government agency will oversee civilian space exploration in Dorislav, while the Ministry of Defense will continue to oversee exoatmospheric military matters.
The Ministry of Space Exploration is built on the following principles:
Everyone has a right to explore space, the stars, and worlds that lie beyond our own.
We will reach for the stars, for it shall benefit our people, our country, and allow our species to survive through the darkest of times.
Space is not a place for meaningless missions that only seek profits and propaganda.
Space shall never be a place for violence, for it will only pollute the cosmos and cause unnecessary harm to all Kerbals.
It will have three milestones in mind. All of these seek to achieve firsts in Dorislavian history:
First domestically launched satellite; (2257)
First (natural-born) Dorislavian in space; (2261)
First Dorislavian probe to land on the Mun. (2267)
Experts have cast doubt on whether or not Dorislav can achieve these goals, though it has dismissed them as being biased and underestimating the country based on its ideology and GDP rank. Time will tell if it can meet those goals before their deadlines.
