General Address to Foreign Powers
Greetings from Aricyet. This document is an opening statement by the Voley Union to all foreign powers on Kerbin, serving to establish relations and introduce the Union to the governments of the world in the interest of diplomacy and cooperation for the betterment of all Kerbalkind.
The Voley Union comprises the former territory of Belasirov which has until recently been uncontrolled by any nation or country since the collapse of Belasirov.
Our government is a federal representative democracy comprised of constituencies established by the Proposal for Union. These constituencies form the building blocks for our provinces. Each constituency has a representative, whom they send to the House of Voley, our legislative body. Multiple constituencies may opt to give the power to cast their votes to just one of their representatives in order to streamline the legislative process and allow the other representatives to stay with their constituents and stay aware of their needs. Constituencies can vote to revoke a vote by majority if they disagree with their representative, and have the opportunity to vote to replace them once per month. Otherwise representatives are elected every two years by ranked choice voting. The House is moderated by a Speaker, who is elected every year by the House from one of their own, and who also represents the House and it's opinions to the President.
The executive is formed around the President, who is elected by popular vote every five years. The president nominates secretaries of the departments of the executive branch. These are then approved by the House. If the House does not approve of any of the President's nominees, they may appoint their own by simple majority.
The judiciary is comprised of local and provincial judges elected by constituencies, and by a supreme court whose members are nominated by the president, approved by the House, and then approved by popular vote.
This should serve as an adequate primer on the internal political mechanisms of the Union. The Voley Union is receptive to trade and hopes to forge strong economic ties with her regional neighbors, as well as maintain a just peace in northern Doren.
