Following the diplomatic spat between the Imperial Union and Central Kafrica, Congress was convened in Rinn, a special one of its kind entire assembly briefing, with both the House of Representatives and the Senate being present in this particular session. Today, at the end of this fine June 2211, the United States of Central Kafrica’s Congressional library welcomes the records of March-May 2208. Below is the Congressional Clerk's written record of the day's proceedings.
At the session’s opening, The Secretary of State, the Former President Rhonda Reguwu took the speaker’s podium, speaking in a compassionate and concerned tone, yet confident of her cards. “Greetings one and all. I am happy to be back addressing this Senate house for the first time since the end of my term in 2200. It’s been a while, many things have changed. As a nation we have become more resilient. We have withstood the diplomatic strain once more.”
She took a breath, looking up at the patterned ceiling and electroleers lighting up the beautiful ornate room. Bracing herself for a speech that she cannot mess up. “Over the past 200 years, this form of Government, Presidential representative democracy. This very system in which you participate and legislate within, has maintained a steady course.”
She’d continue speaking, strutting about the podium almost trembling, taking pauses and the occasional glass of water to ensure her voice wouldn’t break. “Our peoples, our great great grandparents, faced this exact struggle. The powers to our east came knocking for our economy. Earlier this year, the Imperial Union, our eastern neighbors came knocking for our economy. Once more, our people say no!”
She’d raise her voice, a small cheer coming from the mass of legislators before her, many of which holding the elder stateswoman in high regard, having brought this grand union into being. Taking another deep breath and shaking herself before continuing her speech. “This democracy withstood the cancer that was KAFSOC, its economy weakened as our eastern friends found their strength. The nations of Azenia and the Northern Kombined States coming to the aid of Krome, pulling the economic stability from the tumor. Sapping it of resources.” Gazing around the room to a set of intense listeners, she took one more deep breath, holding her head high and proud. The Kafrican spirit is alive, grandma. “Following the discussion we had with the Imperial Union, they first of all apologized for their actions on April 8th. The United States of Central Kafrica believes that mistakes can be made, excuses however will not be taken, and therefore, I hereby ask the House and the Senate to assist this government in delivering consequences for the Imperial Union’s actions.”
She’d gaze around the room, now as still as the air she breathed, interrupted by one Representative's cough. “I have been conversing with executives from Samwell Mechanised Industries, and they are willing to bankroll the change in direction I have called this joint Congressional session to approve.” She’d gaze at the concerned faces in the room, taking a deep sigh and strutting across the podium, back and then forth, clearly nervous about what she had planned. “I wish for the consequences of the actions of the Imperial Union on April 8th to be that of a complete embargo of their goods. This requires the reappeal of the military authorization act we signed on April 9th.” She’d gaze around the room once more, many of the Congressmen and Women’s jaws could have been down in Konig by now with how far they had dropped.
“I understand this is a big ask, however, the Imperial Union’s economy is effectively rigged to blow. If they truly wanted to stop their enemies they could do it themselves by means of embargo. I am hereby asking, by authorization of the President of the United States of Central Kafrica, supported by the Vice President, and the Head of State Security, that Congress approves the following economic policy; First, Central Kafrica issues an embargo against the nations comprising the Imperial Union, which are: The Dominion of Vocavium, The Dominium of Westray, The Colony of Svarskia, The Dominion of Castana, Primus Orania, The United Atlas States, and finally, Imperial Celeste.” the room was silent for an agonizing, tortuous few seconds. With dazed senators and representatives looking at each other, slowly but surely they began to stand. Cheering for Kafrican sovereignty and independence. With the end of her speech, the speaker invited those who wished to debate the tabled motion to stand to the podium. There was no such speakers, the Senate, and House were united in the spirit of ensuring the safety of our homeland.
