In September of 2214, nearing the end of his nominally five-year term, the Veiidic Council voted to employ emergency powers to extend Kosta Tasova’s term by eighteen months (later extended to twenty-one) so that he could oversee the end of Baskayan reconstruction efforts.
With his term over, Tasova hands the torch to his Atreian successor, O Su-yo. O, born in 2171 is a Shiven-born Atreian dual citizen and politician. He is the son of the first Shiven diplomat to Atreus, O Ju-sam.
O was raised in Shive for the first twelve years of his life, where O Ju-sam was appointed diplomat to Atreus, subsequently moving his family to Tolberg. After his term ended, he decided to stay in Atreus and raise O Su-yo, who learned Kerbian and later studied law at Cenov University.
In his mid-30s, O would pursue politics, later being appointed to the Atreian delegation at 40.
Critics express concern over his Shiven descent—a protectorate of the Pan-Veiidic Commonwealth that has only an observational delegation in the Veiidic Council.
O states “Of course, [...] everyone is proud of where they come from. However, as general secretary [of the Pan-Veiidic Commonwealth] my duty prioritizes the interests of Veiid and her members, such as Atreus.” O reiterates that he would like to further bridge relations between the member states and its non-Veiidic partners, such as Shive.
Succeeding Tasova at 45, he is set to be the second youngest general secretary and the only one born outside of Veiid later on the 19th.
