CONCERNING ASCENSIONIST UNITY AND EXTRAPLANETARY AFFAIRS
No.1 - Although the 23rd century crisis has concluded due to the expulsion of subversive elements to Avarua-Polengairdt, political stability in Sahr exists largely due to promises of extraterrestrial expansion. Failing of such could see a Republican Guard coup as armed forces loyalty is at its lowest since the 2130s, with the sole exception of the Navy. The resulting clash would have uncertain consequences.
A - Banphrionsa Kara’s claim to the throne could easily escalate such a disaster into a world war due to her
ambitions in Grestin and anti-Zokesian sentiment.
No.2 - Since mid 2204 the expansion of the navy and development of celestial commerce has been funded primarily through the Korparætziya Ærgeadæs Chymann Tægkh Æraspæs (KÆCTÆ/KACTA) and associated firms. This was to mask expenditures so social spending could not just be retained, but increased without notable inflation or debt. Sahrland has therefor been operating with a de-facto two currency economic system for the last ten years, protecting stability of the Rút at the cost of turning KÆCTÆ bills into the primary currency of Sahren shipbuilding.
B - If left unresolved the shipbuilding industry will collapse, causing a crisis equivalent to the Hysteria of 2160,
potentially leading to armed conflict in the nature of the one mentioned in No.1.
V - Foreseeable KACTA bailouts would greatly destabilise the Rút, placing all of Aontas in a slump at a critical time.
G - Integration of Avarua-Polengairdt has brought enough new capital into the Aontan sphere to delay the onset of
these disasters for another ten to twenty years, more than enough time to resolve them.
No.3 - The KACTA bills were intentionally implemented in such a way by the Kydæ society as part of a bigger plan to quickly develop celestial resources, the extraction of which would pay off the stalled out debts. Firms within the new Sahren celestial industrial complex currently operate under the assumption their KACTA bills represent real money which has been made in the future.
No.4 - Colonial merchantalism has already proven an incredibly profitable institution. In 2210 Sahrland briefly entered the top 3 fastest growing economies only three years after integrating Avarua-Polengairdt. As of this report’s signing the AONTEX has risen to within the top 8 of net export leaders primarily through the extraction of hydrates and rare materials on Bop and Pol.
No.5 - The highest estimates place the bill for new development at 45.6 million Rút, a figure which would only take 16 years of AONTEX’s current profit to pay off. More realistic estimates place the cost at potentially 25 or 19 million
E - The high estimate assumes no improvement on profit margin and a completely stagnant GDP growth.
For the reasons outlined above there exists now a political and economic neccessity for Sahrland to expand to the outer edges of the system, and the cooperation of all members of Aontas in this endeavour would bring vast amounts of wealth and prestige in places where it is sorely lacking. Failing this, catastrophe can be expected by the year 2230.
