While the forever peace in Sahrland saw a gradual improvement and recovery from the previous rapid changes in power, the Bastian region entered a period of decline. The Commonwealth was a nation created by a treaty, not by will of the people. Yet the dream of a commonwealth that stood for peace, collectivism, and liberty prevailed for 53 years. The dream was threatened with each passing decade, as three new generations grew in an increasingly divided and shadowed country. Many had become tired of the Commonwealth system, but few actively expressed their thoughts as the two nations tied cruelly and unholy to one another tried desperately to remain one. By Aughtafæl of 2197 the SRGIA led by Pretyu-Ako Yuari planned a coup in cooperation with a portion of the Bastian army with the goal of seizing control in Vuchalla and abolishing reforms which they believed were likely to fail. In the long term they hoped to save the Commonwealth at any cost.

The president of Bastia Serra Cisão’s home was blockaded by the SRGIA, with the intent to force a resignation. Cisão instead tried to flee and was accidentally killed in the process. His death was hidden for the remainder of the Aughtafæl coup.

Bastian armed forces seize control of administrative buildings in Vuchalla to bring the city in control of the conspirators. This was intended to happen a day later but occurred prematurely due to a communication error. This was the first armed acquisition of territory in the incident.

Bastian tanks and SRGIA agents flood the streets of Vuchalla and seize the capital. Protestors gather immediately, however pro Commonwealth civilians join the conspirators to keep them away.

The SRGIA takes control of the press to claim the Bastian government has ceased to function and that they would form a new government. They also claim (false) recognition from Sahrland.

International community condemns Sahrland for using the SRGIA to seize control of Bastia. Sahrland denies involvement. Zokesian military prepares a special airborne operation to seize Vuchalla along with a conventional invasion across the Bastian border.

Demonstrations across the Commonwealth are held. Conflict in Vuchalla erupts as recon units of the loyal Bastian army enter the city. Locals are emboldened to resist the conspirators. Incredible doubt rises among the conspirators as to the likelihood of coup success at this point.

Sahren Korych board the SN-Blokha and seize control of the vessel. They threaten to start shelling Vuchalla if the conspirators there do not stand down, despite that the outdated SN-Blokha had only 17 operable shells onboard. Conflict began between those who wanted to surrender and those who wanted to keep Vuchalla locked down. Other Korych units are unable to land due to unfavourable weather conditions.

Zokesian special forces depart for Vuchalla. Upon hearing this the Korych run the SN-Blokha aground and engage conspirators with no regard for collateral damage.

Vuchalla devolves into anarchy as the Zokesian armed forces, Conspirators, and Korych do not know who is hostile to who. Air support is still unused by all sides as the governments do not want to escalate the conflict.

Chairman of the SRGIA Pretyu-Ako Yuari is reported missing and the other SRGIA agents either disappear into the crowd, surrender, or flee. The Bastian army conspirators follow soon after.

The Bastian armed forces retake Vuchalla and declare a coup of their own to restore order, this time actually backed by the Sahren government.

Conspirators in Vuchalla surrender and the Zokesian forces and Korych declare a temporary truce until a treaty can be ratified by the governments of both nations.
By the 5th of Aughtafæl the convoluted mess of the previous 3 days left many dead and Bastia lacking elected government. Two months later the Republic of Bastia declared independence from the Sahrland-Bastia commonwealth. 1 day later Sahrland declared independence from the Commonwealth, and it dissolved. The leaders of both nations met to bid farewell. On that day the Sun was eclipsed by the Mun, and with this the light flickered out in Sahrland-Bastia.
