Windsteer — Prime Minister-elect William Blenheim delivered a blistering address to the newly seated National Assembly today, issuing a stark and uncompromising warning to the international community regarding the rapid military mobilisation of Basil.
Mr. Speaker, Members of the Assembly,
I stand before you today not with the jubilation of an electoral victor, but with the solemn and heavy heart of a man who sees a dark and terrible tempest gathering upon our horizon.
We have spent these recent months locked in the fervent debates of our own domestic democracy, and rightly so. Yet, while we have been casting our ballots and deliberating the economic future of the Imperial Union, a shadow has stretched itself across the map of the world.
I speak, of course, of the grim and unrelenting tidings emerging from Basil.
There are those, the hopeful, the complacent, the wilfully blind, who would tell us that the clattering of tracks, the roaring of engines, and the endless marching of boots are but the innocent exercises of a cautious neighbour. They tell us that Basil merely seeks to secure its own borders.
What absolute and unpardonable nonsense!
Let us not deceive ourselves with the comforting illusions of peace when the air already smells of iron and cordite. When a nation strips the very bread from its people to feed the forge; when it converts the entirety of its civilian industry into an engine of slaughter; when it calls every able bodied citizen to the colours in a state of total, uncompromising mobilization, it does not do so to stand guard in the night. It does so to conquer the morning.
A military apparatus of this staggering and unprecedented magnitude cannot be explained away by the arithmetic of self defense. This colossal buildup can be purposed for one thing, and one thing only: absolute and unquestioned domination over every sovereign military power on the face of Kerbin.
If any man requires further evidence of this grand and sinister design, he need only look across the oceans. We see the tentacles of this ambition already taking hold upon other continents, where Irsmuncast and Sarkizya are at this very hour receiving huge amounts of military equipment. These are vast and terrible armaments, forged in the furnaces of Basil and shipped across the globe to sow division and arm subservient proxies. This is not the behavior of a nation simply looking to its own borders. It is the calculated logistics of a power preparing for global war.
It is a machine built not to protect, but to subjugate. It is a leviathan waking from its slumber, opening a maw vast enough to swallow the liberties of the world whole.
And so, I issue this warning not merely to this parliament, but to every free and sovereign nation across the globe. Heed this warning! Do not sleep while the forge fires of Basil burn through the night. Do not believe that by speaking softly, by offering concessions, or by looking the other way, you might be spared the wrath of this gathering storm. An appeaser is merely one who feeds the crocodile, hoping it will eat him last. But I assure you, the beast is hungry, and it will not stop until the world is consumed.
The Imperial Union will not close its eyes. We have been granted a mandate by our people to recognise the world not as we wish it to be, but as it truly is. We shall arm ourselves. We shall fortify our dominions. We shall marshal our industries, our wealth, and the unbroken spirit of our citizens.
We must stand firm, and we must stand together with any nation that values its own survival. For if we do not meet this threat with a resolve equal to its menace, we shall find ourselves cast into the abyss of a new dark age, made all the more sinister by the sheer industrial might of those who seek to rule it.
The hour is late, but it is not yet lost. Let us do our duty, and let us prepare for the storm.
