A Recap of Recent Events, Issue #1

May 22, 2166

This is our first issue.

We know what we're doing could be illegal because not only are we aren't state-run media, but we also seek to tell Dorislavians the truth about recent events. The regime spins a narrative of its own every time something newsworthy comes out. Did an activist get arrested? They will portray them as a fascist spreading far-right propaganda and yada yada.

We can only publish 2-3 times a month because it is a challenging task, not to mention we use typewriters, as laser printers would be dangerous. Why? Because it is known that they leave tiny microscopic dots on any piece of paper you print stuff on. Many publications like us were shut down in 2160 because several people were arrested with pieces of underground literature in their pockets or at home. When authorities conducted a thorough inspection of them, they found a series of yellow dots that formed a pattern.

If decoded correctly, they reveal information on when it was printed and the serial number of the printer used. The police used this information to trace the papers back to their sources: a couple of homes in Kieshdet, Bolkar, and Prabis. It is thought that 23 people involved in these publications were arrested and charged for "publishing without a license" and "hate speech".

News of the arrests quickly spread around Dorislav and eventually the outside world, with many condemning the arrests and accusing W(NAME FADED) of attempting to silence artists, writers, and others by prohibiting them from publishing their works independently and requiring them to submit their works to state censors for publication via state-run publishing houses and record labels.

We'll publish another one soon if we can.
