People of the Pan-Veiidic Commonwealth, I address you now in grim times. As of this day, we are at war with the Commonwealth of Irsmuncast and her axis of subversion.
For years, a shadow has loomed ever closer to Veiid, threatening a return to those dark years of war. We were at peace with Irsmuncast and her people, and were in negotiations to withdraw our sanctions after the safety of our people was assured. Throughout our talks, no intimations were given to the aggressive intentions of the nations with whom we are now at war.
This is not simply an attack on our governments or our people; in striking us, Irsmuncast assails the foundations of our modern world. She ignores the choice of bloodless compromise, and seeks to inflict loss upon everyone. These are not the actions of a strong nation.
Veiid has suffered far too long under the thumbs of autocrats and egotists to bow once more. Our armies will fight to the last breath alongside our allies to keep our land and our peoples free to choose their own path. We will fight, and with the Divine as our guide we shall not lay down arms until we are never again threatened.
